Introducing CVK series 1.8/0.72 deg microstepping systems

Oriental Motor is pleased to introduce our new CVK Series, compact standardized 24 VDC driver combined with performance driven high torque stepper motors, for the optimum application results. The CVK Series offers customers a common driver platform and wiring from which to choose the desired performance, allowing for improved machine performance, saving space while reducing costs.

For current motor only customers or customers using a competitor’s motor, the CVK Series driver only product, CVD driver is also available. With a simple rotary current adjustment switch, it is easy to set the running current, achieving optimal performance for a wide variety of stepper motors.

Product Overview:
CVK Series replaces our CMK and CRK round shaft open frame packages and features 2 types of motors with 3 basic step angles. Choose from 1.8°, 0.72° or a 0.36° step angle, each with specific performance advantages. While the driver is matched to the motor type with maximum current setting flexibility, the driver size, mounting and wiring are common, allowing for easy testing and standardization.

As shown in the below graph, the 1.8° motor type offers the highest torque in the low speed range. The 0.72° motor type is designed to maximize the mid to upper speed range. Not shown but a key point, the 0.36° provides superior positional accuracy compared to 1.8°, 0.9° and 0.72° stepper motors.

With the fully digital, standard full time microstepping driver, the lowest vibration is achieved throughout the entire speed ranges for all motors; especially low to mid ranges which are typical noise and vibration problem areas for stepper motors.

1.8°
- 50% more torque in the lower speed range
- Low vibration due to fully digital microstepping driver

*Note 1: all motors are connector type except for the CVK213 type.
*Note 2: For 1.8° 2.22 in frame size (CVK26_), for a 1/4” shaft, the driver and motor are sold separately

0.72° / 0.36°
- 85% more torque in the mid and upper speed range as compared to previous 0.72°
motors packages.
- Lowest vibration due to fully digital microstepping driver and 10 pole motor.

Positional Accuracy:
While it is always best to position on a cardinal step (1.8°, 0.72° & 0.36°) most applications today do not have this option. With microstepping common, using a 0.72° or 0.36° stepper motor improves the positional accuracy due to the number of phases. The 0.36° stepper motor has more teeth on the stator and rotor than either the 1.8° or 0.72° and by combining more teeth with an increased number of phases, results in superior positional accuracy of all three.

CVD Driver
- 0.72° / 0.36° driver accepts 1.8° pulse signals so no additional controller programming is required. Use the step angle selection switch (see Catalog or Manual)
- Full time microstepping for the lowest vibration and noise, automatically.
- Small & light weight – standardized driver type
- Current adjusting switch for matching to another motor
