MEXE02 SW USB driver download for other versions of Windows*

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Fri Aug 14, 2015 2:42 pm

Q: I have attempted to download your MEXE02 software to my PC which is running Windows 7 Embedded Standard PC, but none of the downloads have worked. How can I install this software correctly on my tablet?

A: The MEXE02 download is meant for PCs that run on Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Windows 2000. Most times, communication issues occur when the driver is not updated to the newest version. Try going to your device manager and look at the Ports (COM & LPT). There should be a port labeled "ORIENTAL MOTOR/Virtual COM Port (COM#)". If there is a yellow triangle directly after the com port number, then right click the triangle and select update driver. Also sometimes, reconnecting the communication cable to different ports may fix the issue.

Otherwise, if you are trying to download the MEXE02 software to another type of operating system, then you can attempt the procedure below to download and install the Windows 7 Version to a Windows 7 Embedded Standard PC. Please note that this method is not guaranteed to work for every case. This method also requires the use of a computer which successfully downloaded the MEXE02 software.

In this method, you will be extracting everything in the Data1.cab file which downloaded to your computer. You will need to create a new folder on your desired PC which the MEXE02 software was unable to download to. Then you will need to copy the missing "usbser.sys" file from the successfully downloaded PC to that folder. Next you will select "Update driver" in the device manager and select the extracted folder (see steps below).

NOTE that copying the "usbser.sys" file directly to it's destination location ("C:\Windows\System32\Drivers") does not work.

If the Oriental Motors USB driver fails to install, perform the following steps to load the driver:
· Verify that the device shows up in Device Manager (go to Control Panel – Hardware and Sound – Devices – Device Manager)
