AZ series thermal protection

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Thu Oct 06, 2016 4:05 pm

Q: Does the AZ series products offer thermal protection for the motor? If so, how does it function and is there a way to customize it?

A: The AZ product is a closed loop stepper motor with an absolute mechanical encoder; also referred to as the ABZO sensor. The ABZO sensor uses ‘Magneto Resistance sensing’ method to detect changes in the rotor's surrounding magnetic fields through electrical resistance. This allows it to calculate the absolute geometrical position of the motor shaft as well as the thermal condition of the motor.

Our AZ product does offer a motor overheat protective alarm which generates when the motor windings reach 85 degrees C [alarm code 26h]. The “motor temperature information” parameter sets the generation condition of the motor temperature information (INFO-MTRTMP). Setting range: 40 to 120 °C (104 to 248 °F); the default value is 85 degrees C.
