Sizing Fuses for ES Series

Postby om_tech_support_JT » Fri Jun 17, 2011 7:15 pm

Q: On page B-198 of your catalog, ... s01_02.pdf
you show that we are supposed to use 10A per fuse per ES01 controller. This seems like more than enough. Why is this?

A: 10A is a safe value calculated with the maximum current requirement from our biggest ES series motor (usually 3~5 times more than rated current) plus more controller current requirements such as start-up and braking current. If you really want to size a smaller fuse against our recommendation, I would suggest that you measure the current during motor operation to determine the ideal fuse size for your application.
