Q: I have a device to send Modbus hex commands, and I have connected it to my BLV driver and motor. I'm pretty sure that my communication works because I have confirmed it with another product. However, the BLV motor is not responding to my commands, and the red LED on the serial RS-485 connector is on. Is there something I forgot to do to enable this communication?
A: Yes, please refer to the picture below from the BLV RS-485 communication operating manual for the proper switch settings for Modbus communication:
1. SW2 #5 switch needs to be on (default = off).
2. ID needs to be 1 (default = 0).
If you have proper communication, the green LED on the CN5 or CN6 connector (where your communication is connected) should light up when you send commands. If you have a red LED, then it means there's a communication error. Check your communication settings, COM port, and/or driver updates.
