Q: I am planning to use one of your FLEX products for a factory automation project. Particularly the AR98MKD-PS25-3 model. I will be installing a few of these in a master-slave network and I will have a Modbus RTU terminal control all axes by sending Modbus command message strings. I'm confused as to what other peripherals I need in order to make this work. I'm also looking for a test software that I can use to test Modbus commands since my Modbus RTU terminal is not ready. What can you provide?
A: Thank you for using our FLEX, stored data type products. These were designed to work in a factory automation network via RS-485. If you don't already have an RS-485 network, then you must purchase a network converter to convert whatever you have available to RS-485.
As far as the network converter, there are many converters in the market that would work. We've only tested a few though; including the one suggested below:

Please click the link below to see the ComTest Pro freeware that will be sufficient to test Modbus commands:

You can use Modbus at the same time as the MEXE02 software. The MEXE02 software is still a good monitoring/testing software that should help especially during testing.
Here's the SW download link:

If you download the software, please also request 1pc CC05IF-USB cable. This connects the driver to the PC, but it's only used for MEXE02; not Modbus.
Please refer to this manual for Modbus command message structure and register addresses:
