5-phase motor wire color connectioin to UDX5105

Postby michael9422 » Mon Oct 09, 2017 7:45 pm

Hi, I want to connect a vexta 5-phase motor to a UDX5105 5-phase motor driver, but the motor wire colors do not exactly match the
color labels on the driver. The motor has wire colors blue, red, yellow, green, brown. The driver has connectors for wire colors blue, red, white, brown, black. How should the motor wires be connected? The motor is a model C4893-9015HGEA1.

Hi michael9422,

Were the C4893-9015HGEA1 and UDX5105 part of the same machine, or was this being used in a new application? The C4893-9015HGEA1 is a custom made part number for an original equipment manufacturer. Therefore, any information on the specifications, dimensions, and wiring for this unit will need to come from the maker of the machine which this motor came from.

The motor and UDX5105 unit were acquired separately, through ebay.

Hi michael9422,

Unfortunately I do not have any information on the OEM or what is custom on that motor. (I am assuming that it has a custom wiring color and possibly some other customization(s) for the OEM's machine). My system only states that it was a custom Japanese part number. Therefore, you would need to be able to trace back the motor to the equipment that it came off of in order to contact the machine manufacturer.

OK, thanks.

I have a follow-up question about the UDX5105. It has some internal dip switches. Switches 1 & 2 operation are described in the manual for configuring 2-Pulse or 1-Pulse. What are switches 3 & 4 for? They are labeled ACD and AHD.

OK, thanks.

I have another follow-up question regarding the discontinued UDX5105. What winding configuration are the motors
it is intended for? (pentagon winding or star winding?)

Hi michael9422,

The winding configuration for the USX5105 is for a star winding.
