hyperterminal connect challenge

hI, OM!

I've got a AS98AAEP-T7.2 and a ASD30E-A-B1. I've got an RS232 com cable and I'm trying to talk to the machines through hyperlink. I've tried to connect through hyperterminal on every available COM port at 9600 baud (8-n-1, no flow control). The devices are powered. Hyperterminal is telling me it can't connect.

What did I miss?

Do you have a +24VDC power supply connected to pins P24 and N24 on the CN4 I/O connector?

I am pretty sure that this is your problem. The COM port needs to be powered.
