Adding Logic Instruction for Ethernet / IP on Studio 5000

1. After setting up your PLC and AZD-AEP or AZD-CEP Driver open the Main Routine.
(Note: you do not need to add AOI’s for this).
2. Add a Normally Open Instruction to your rung and pick your desired name.
For this example, this Instruction will be used to activate the Forward Jog tag, so I named it FW_JOG.

3. Next right click on your instruction and choose “New FW_JOG”.
4. Click on the down arrow and choose “Create and Close” to create your new tag

5. Next add an Output Coil to your Main Routine and give it a name of your choice. I chose “FW_JOG_ON”.

6. Right click on the instruction and click on “New FW_JOG_ON”.

7. When the window pops up, change type to “Alias”. Then choose your desired tag. In this case, we are choosing the tag for FW-JOG. So that tag is “(Module Name): O.Data[2].0”.

8. Your window should now look like the image below. Click create and close.

9. Go online and download your logic to your controller. When everything is done downloading, right click on your Normally Open (NO) instruction “FW_JOG” and choose “toggle bit”. Your input, (NO) and output (Coil) should both be energized and the FW_JOG bit should be activated. To turn-off, toggle the bit again, or add another instruction for a “Stop” operation.

While there are many methods of programming within Studio 5000, this is one method to utilize the built in driver tags. For more complex programs, please contact the manufacturer of your PLC.
