Inrush current

Postby omsupport1 » Thu Nov 19, 2009 3:02 pm

Does the rated current (0.87A) of the 5RK40GN-AWU include the inrush current value?

No, it does not. The inrush current can be as high as 10x the rated current. Make sure to size a slow blow fuse accordingly

As a follow up to this question:

Induction motors will typically have an inrush current value of 3x to 5x the rated current value and
Synchronous motors will typically have an inrush current value of 10x the rated current.
