Specify external torque in sizing tool

Postby ammaratef45 » Tue Oct 25, 2016 8:44 pm

I wanted to use sizing tool to choose DC motor that can handle my system, http://www.orientalmotor.com/support/ballLeadScrew.html

I didn't understand what is required in the external force? what is different between it and load?

Hi ammaratef45,

When sizing the application, both the load and external force will be needed to do a proper sizing. When sizing for a ball/lead screw, the manufacturer of the screw may have an external force that is specified for their screw. Otherwise, the external force can be seen as any force, or resistance, that is preventing the motion of the load. If there is no external force specified by the manufacturer of the ball/lead screw, or if there is no additional force, then you can use a value of 0 for the external force section.
